Meet the NESA18 team!

Updated: Apr 9, 2019

Nordic Esports Academy is an annual esports themed summer school and CS:GO tournament organized by the students of Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. Every member of the international and multidisciplinary team of NESA18 has written a short introduction about themselves. This will be your chance to get to know the faces behind NESA18 before the event held June and July. So, without further ado, let's give the floor to each team member!

Filip

Filip Sever: Dobar dan. I am a Croatian living in Finland for the past 2 years. My field is international business and it is my second year working for Nordic Esports Academy. The first year i was helping with bootcamp coordination, while this year I manage the project. Outside NESA i am involved in other educational and development work for Kajaani University. The most played titles for me are WOW, CS and LOL. NESA is a great opportunity to meet industry veterans and those who are new to esports.

Jani

Jani Vattula: Hi! I’m a fourth year student at Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, and this is my second year at NESA. My other daily job is developing virtual reality programs at the university’s R&D unit. Last year I joined the first ever NESA bootcamp as a student volunteer, and this time I am responsible for organizing the NESA 2018 CS:GO tournament. My favorite game currently is PUBG, but I’ve also spent a lot of time with Rocket League and Dota 2. I’m really looking forward to this summer’s bootcamp and to us having a great tournament!

Saana Ylönen

Saana Ylönen: emilf. Hi! My field is International Business. I’m working in NESA as a Partnership Manager. My daily tasks are based on communication between companies and different organizations related to NESA and esports. Also Sponsorships are part of my job description. I’ve been interested of competitive gaming for many years but earlier my interest was mainly focused to poker. Outside of NESA I’m working with several projects related to International Business and I use my spare time among football - playing and watching. I could name Hearthstone as one of my favorite games. For me NESA is an expedition to game industry. It is a great opportunity to deepen my knowledge and understanding from the perspective of esports event organizer, but also a wonderful opportunity to meet new interesting people.

Laura

Laura Kinnunen: Moro / Hiya! I am graphic designer and game artist from Finland. I am dog owner irl but i think lolcats is best thing internet has ever offered to humankind. Games i been mostly playing are Hearthstone and Animal Crossing New Leaf. NESA is great opportunity learn more about esports and develop my skills as graphic designer.

Teemu

Teemu ”TOVK” Kiiski: Tervehdys! My field is Video Game Production and Game Design. I’m also delving into Entrepreneurship and Project Management as a participant in several projects. Currently I am working as the Marketing manager for Nordic Esports Academy. As a side project, I’m learning Japanese, while also keeping an eye on international opportunities in the future. The game I’ve put most hours into is without doubt RuneScape. Working in NESA18 has given me invaluable experience in teamwork, numerous contacts, as well as insight into the global esports scene.
